Joint Research Projects between China and Slovenia Applicant Guidelines 2024 Ref. No. SSTCRC2513

Project Cooperation Agreement:

"Protocol of the 13th Regular Meeting of the China-Slovenia Science and Technology Cooperation Committee".

Fields and Directions:

1.Computer Science and Applications: In this digital age, computer science is the driving force behind technological innovation. The focus here will be on developing advanced software systems, optimizing algorithms for complex computational tasks, and enhancing the security and privacy of digital information. Applications will span across various sectors such as e-commerce, smart cities, and digital entertainment, aiming to improve operational efficiency and user experience.

2.Energy and Power Engineering: With the global demand for clean and sustainable energy sources increasing, research in this field will concentrate on developing new energy conversion and storage technologies. This includes advanced solar and wind power generation systems, as well as more efficient energy storage devices like next-generation batteries. Additionally, efforts will be made to improve the overall efficiency of power plants and distribution networks to minimize energy losses.

3.Nano and Materials Science: Nanotechnology offers the potential to revolutionize materials with enhanced properties at the microscopic level. Research will involve the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, exploring their unique mechanical, electrical, and chemical properties. These materials could be applied in areas such as electronics, medicine, and environmental protection, for example, in the development of more sensitive sensors, targeted drug delivery systems, and efficient catalysts for pollution control.

4.Bioengineering (including Modern Agriculture and Health): In modern agriculture, bioengineering will focus on developing genetically modified crops with improved resistance to pests and diseases, higher yields, and enhanced nutritional value. In the health sector, it will involve the research and development of personalized medicine, gene therapies, and advanced biomedical devices for diagnosis and treatment. This will contribute to improving global food security and enhancing the quality of healthcare.

5.Carbon Cycle and Karst Geology: Understanding the carbon cycle is crucial for mitigating climate change. Research will aim to quantify and model the fluxes of carbon in different ecosystems, especially those related to karst regions. Karst geology, with its unique limestone formations and underground water systems, plays an important role in carbon sequestration. Studies will also explore the potential impacts of climate change on karst landscapes and the associated biodiversity.

Number of Projects to be Supported: No more than 5.

Total Support Funds: 5 million yuan.

Other Requirements: The cooperation projects must be jointly applied by both parties. The application by a single party is invalid. The implementation period of the projects is 3 years.
