Successful publication: A study of the entrepreneurial identity assimilation process
In 2021, a team of esteemed scientific researchers hailing from Canada embarked upon a captivating study centered around the entrepreneurial identity assimilation process. This venture garnered considerable attention and interest from scholars across Asia. Through the orchestration and coordination facilitated by the SciCo Science and Technology Center (SSTC), this undertaking effectively fostered a scholarly research partnership between Canada and China.
Upon the culmination of the research endeavor, the collaborative team diligently presented their findings to the esteemed "Journal of Business Venturing." The outcomes of their labor were met with favorable reception from both the editorial board and the discerning review team at the publishing house.
The research collective meticulously crafted an all-encompassing model elucidating the entrepreneur identity assimilation process. This model was informed by meticulous analysis of in-depth interviews conducted with a cohort of 30 individuals who had successfully undergone the assimilation process, as well as 12 individuals who had initiated but ultimately not completed it. By extending the boundaries of identity process and identity-play theories, the study shed light on the intricate mechanisms of daydream-play and substantive play, unfolding across phases encompassing broad, focused, and specific explorations, which collectively culminate in the assimilation of one's entrepreneurial identity. Building upon prior understandings of possible selves, the research further unveiled the dynamic interplay between undesirable employee possible selves and aspirational entrepreneur possible selves, a relationship that engenders steadfast commitment to the process of entrepreneur identity assimilation over the course of time. The implications of these findings for both theoretical frameworks and practical applications are thoughtfully deliberated.
